Is there a site or location to see which vehicles are towable, or how to convert your vehicle to be towed. I have 2008 Toyota Sienna, and the dealership says it cannot be towed.

Is there any reference material out there?

First check your owners manual, it is the rule. Remco provides modification equipment, call or go their web site.

On edit: Dan, I see you are new and this is your first post. Welcome to rv.net! It can be a busy place. Your question/post will probably be moved to the Dingy Towing section were you may get even more answers.

If you are a member you can log on to the FMCA website. If not, you can log on to Motorhome Magazine website. Both have lists by year for several years. The lists are updated in January of each year. As stated above, REMCO is a key source. The two primary towbar companies are Blu Ox and Roadmaster. If they don't have towbars for your model you can bet that nobody tows your car.

Yes, if you are a member of FMCA, here are Guides for each of the last 10 years covering what vehicles are towable "4 wheels down":

Remco advises that a lube pump is required. Don't see what part of WA you are in. Best place in northwest WA. is Eric's in Squim.

Just because Remco sells parts and pieces to modify your vehicle does not mean Toyota approves those changes. What does your owners manual say about recreational towing? I would hate to screw up a fine vehicle based on after-market accessories. It may be cheaper, in the long run, to buy an old Saturn or Chevy that is four down towable right from the factory. Now that those two companies are in the tank, you may be able to pick up a late model toad for pennies on the dollar.

I assume you have an automatic tranny? most such Toyotas can not be towed. listen to the dealership in your case.

You may be able to get a lube pump to make your vehicle towable, but keep in mind that if the lube pump fails, you vehicle warranty will NOT cover the damage to your transmission, and the people you bought the lube pump from won't fix your car, either. Lube pump HAVE been known to fail, with disastrous results.
IMO, the only smart thing to do is find a vehicle that you like, that is towable WITHOUT any modifications.
Remember, some vehicles can be towed four down, and some can be dolly towed, with NO modifications. Almost any vehicle can be put on a trailer for towing.
There are advantages and disadvantages for each of the three methods.
The choice is yours.
Good luck.
