I have a 32-foot class A on a Chev-workhorse chassis. When I slow down or start up I get a clicking, ticking sound from the wheel on the driver side front. The clicking speeds up as the vehicle goes faster and slows down as I stop. It is only heard while moving. Can't tell if it does it a higher speeds because the engine noise drowns it out. I removed the wheel cover just to see if there might have been a stone in there rotating around as the wheel turned. Nothing was in there.
The question therefore is whether anybody has had a similar problem and what suggestions there might be before I have to bring it down to a dealer. Thanks.

Did you try running without the wheel cover in place?

Sounds like it could be a loose lug nut. Check the torque on the lug nuts.

Something similar in an old truck I used to have was an improperly installed brake caliper pin. It would click or scrape when moving, then apparently a piece of it would break off and it would be quiet for a while.

I had something like this with my car, I just had the brakes done and they did not put a clip on correctly and it broke and was causing the noise against the rim of the vehicle.
I would take it to the dealer or a mechanic

I agree with Dutch. I sometime get the same thing. Take off the cover on that wheel and see if the noise goes with it. If so, clean the edge of the cover where it contacts the wheel and apply a thin coat of silicon lubricant to it. I have found it best not to torque the nuts that hold it on too tight. If I do it seems to warp the cover and the noise gets worse.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a loose wheel weight. The clip that held it on was cracked and it was moving back and forth.

It was quite a time ago, but for me it was the tire treads separating in the tire. New front tires fixed the problem for me.

Had an old 1976 26 ft Winnebago on a Chev P3 chassis and it was the right front caliper rattling. No harm, no foul. JMHO
