Being fairly new to diesels, I have 30k on my 2005 superduty 6.0, is it necessary to add additives to the fuel EVERY time I fill up in order to keep the injectors from clogging? It seems as though one would have to carry a case of it along if you fill up a couple of times or more a day.

As long as you have fresh fuel going through them. You do not need to add anything. If it is going to be stored for some time. They do have products that will keep algee and other nasty things. From growing in your fuel tanks. You might want to check with the engine OEM about any problems ewith low sulphur fuel. The shop that rebuilds my pumps and injectors. Has told me of problems with older systems and low sulphur diesel.

on a 6.0 I wouldn't add anything.

Add 5 to 10 percent biodiesel for lubrication.

You shouldn't have to add anything except more fuel, they are thirsty.

I run an additive to mine when I'm pulling, and every other tank when not. 90,000 miles ago, the water jacket cracked on my Dodge, a defect in the Cummins block. I had the engine rebuilt with a new block and my parts, new rings, bearings gaskets, etc. The mechanic asked me if I ran an additive in my fuel, and I told him what I did. The engine had 85,000 miles on it, and he said it looked like new inside! No wear on anything, and nearly spotless. I continued the same treatment since then, and now have another 100,000 miles on the rebuild and going strong.
If your manufacturer allows it, try putting bio diesel in and run a couple tanks. The first tank for me lost milage by about 3 mpg do to the lower octane. The second tank the mpg came back up. Then I put a tank of regular diesel in, and I gained 2 mpg over that! Bio diesel is a great injector cleaner.

that motor will rattle happily along without snake oil.
However, add what you finally decide on and it will make you feel at ease and that is what counts.

I would run motorcraft cetane booster. The 6.0 likes a 45 or better rating. It will make your injector tips, EGR valve, and turbo live longer.
Note: Use the recomended dose, more will not be better.

I am about to take off on a cross country trip and for the first time in 40,000 miles I will have to put diesel in my Dodge instead of B100 biodiesel. My plan is to add Marvel Mystery Oil each fill up.

Raften,
I'm curious --- why??
Where in the engine operating instructions did it say to use anything other than #2 diesel fuel.
