Where in the engine operating instructions did it say to use anything other than #2 diesel fuel.
Mostly because I have been involved in tear downs of 5.9 CTD's and the ones that ran either/or biodiesel or some sort of lubrication added to the fuel showed a marked decrease in fuel delivery sytem problems (injection pumps). My motor vintage has a well known problematic pump and I feel it needs more lube than ULSD provides. As for the engine operating instructions, they did not deal with ULSD in '01, and I became my own warrenty station right away.
I have a good friend, bought the same truck as me at the same time. I started making biodiesel and using it, he claimed it would ruin the motor. He has had to replace the IP twice. I have run biodiesel since almost new but his truck has 25,000 more miles than mine.
Just my personal experiance and I really don't want to sound like I have a secret solution .

You're gonna hate how loud your engine is on dino juice. I didn't notice my truck get quieter when I switched to Bio, but when you have to run a tank of the other stuff, you sure notice it.
For additive I carry a jerry can of bio and add 1/2G per fill (makes ~B2) and if it's a long trip I top off the jerry can when I find B100.
