Anyone use one of these in the North and have any feedback? I see Dr J had a dome and it did get at least one satellite. Thanks.

The older Winegards were junk...nylon gears and lots of problems.
The new winegard Travel'r has been completely redesigned. This includes all metal gears. They are well built.
There are two models depending on which sat service you use. The SK1000 for Dish or SK3005 for Direct.
I have had the Winegard travel'r Slimline SK3005 for a while now and could not be happier. It's a one button operation.

Yep. Check at Winegard in the North We found the Trav'ler 3005 worked very well in Valdez. As it turned out, I couldn't see the 119 satellite due to a very large mountain. We actually got the Trav'ler to tune to 101 and 110 and then removed power before it tried to get 119. This actually gave us all our subscribed channels, HD reception and DNS channels. I don't have any sports channels, Showtime or Movies, so I don't know what will work without 119 up there. We replaced the penny with a small piece of metal the same size and zip tied it to the arm. Worked fine all the way home to Delaware.

The main trick is to pull power to the Travler when you get it partially tuned. This only cuts out the tuning system controller and your TV signal will pass through the dead controller just fine.
