I am trying to determine if there is a dedicated air filter to the air
compressor mounted to the Cummins 8.3l mechanical engine circa 1995.

I am not seeing one on my engine.

Thanks for any assist.

Dean,

Trace the line from the air compressor (the one that doesn't go to the air dryer). On most, it goes to the intake manifold. Good idea. It gets air cleaned by the engine air filter, "compressed" by the turbo and cooled by the CAC! That is why few have a separate filter for the compressor.

Brett, again thanks for the assist. You seem to have the correct answers to most of my questions. I will do the trace.

I wondered about that myself. Thanks Brett.

It IS possible that the air compressor has a separate air filter, so please VERIFY. Not likely but possible. As I said, all you have to do is trace the inlet line from the air compressor and see where it leads!
