I am a little confused about how to figure total battery amp hours.
I have 6 six volt batteries wired to make 12 volts. The batteries have an amp hour rating of 220 hours each. Do I multiply 6x220 to get
1320 amp hours or since I have 3 banks of 2 6v batteries wired to make 12v is my amp hours realy 660?

660. You have 1330 at 6v, but 1/2 that at 12v. It's a watts thing.

But only 330 usuable amp hrs, if you hold the 50% discharge rate to prolong battery longivity.

Hi wild bill,

I hope your 6 six volt batteries are wired in a balanced manner. See method #3 here:

correctly interconnecting multiple batteries

When you wire batteries voltage So six+six =2 volts since they are 220 amp hoed to be identical) you have 220 amp hours.

I am fond of saying "There are no six volt batteries in RVs" even if you and I both have a pair of them.. The reason I say this is the pair of sixes, in series becomes a volt battery for all technical discussions S

Now, if you wire batteries in parallel then you amp hours.. So a pair of G-27's at say 100 amp hours each (These are 12 volt batteries) = 200 AH.

NOTE that when discussing amp hours.. The voltage is not a factor.. That comes in wish to calcualte WATT HOURS. Which we almost never do.

The other thing to remember is you can safely use 1/2 the capacity. You can use more.. but it will shorten time between to the battery store
