had read an earlier post in the class c forum with replies where the goodyear 949 tire was recommended. When looking over the goodyear rv tire website, I don't see this tire.
The Goodyear RV tire website has not been updated in close to a year.
The G949 is the 16" replacement for the G149. The G949 is an all-steel "rib" tread design tire, comparable to the XPX Rib, whereas the the All Steel Goodyear tire that I use on my 31' Class C is the Goodyear G947 RSS Armor MAX. It is the replacement for the G647 which has also been discontinued but still remains on the RV tire website.
Information can be found here on the Goodyear Commercial Tire website.

My personal recommendation would be to stick with Michelin XPS Rib, but that's primarily due to the fact that they have been out for a while and have a great track record.
With the similarities in construction, the G949 should be a great tire, too, and is also be an excellent choice.
When I replace mine, I may go with the G947 if the price is significantly lower than the Michelin XPS Rib. Of course, given that this will not happen for about four or five years, by then the G949s will have a proven track record.
All the above applies to G947s, too, except that they are the only all-steel tires available for us (E-450s) with a more aggressive mud and snow rated tread pattern.
