I just had my Jeep Wrangler fitted out for towing behind a motor home, and I was wondering how people protect and stow the wiring harness when they aren't towing the dingy. I considered wrapping it in plastic and taping it, and then tucking it behind the grill, but thought that there may be much better ideas out there. I don't want to just leave it out to the mercy of the snow, salt, and road debris. Any thoughts?

I have a short end on my toad. I use a five foot ectension cable to go along the path of the towbar. I can then remove all of the exposed cable.

I set up my toad wiring with this coiled cord. You install a plug on the front of the toad and a plug on the rear of the MH and then just plug the cord in when you tow. Unplug when you disconnect and stow it in a compartment.

I have a coiled cord attached to the tow bar. When I remove the toad, I fold in the tow bar, secure it with a locking pin, and put a cover over the whole assembly which includes the coiled up cord.

I just coil it up and stuff it into a Zip lock Bag! Stows under the hood!

That's what I do also.

Thanks folks. The dealer that installed my tow bar just ran a five foot length of wiring harness that plugs into the motorhome, but no plug on the toad end. I guess this winter I'll just wrap the wiring in plastic and tuck it under the hood to keep the crud out until I can redo it next spring. Thanks for the ideas.

We remove ours and put it in the car when not towing. Works for us!

If mine was removable, I'm sure I would do the same thing, but mine doesn't unplug. It's hard wired into the toad, and then plugs into the MH when needed. When not being towed, I have about 6' of wire, plus the connector, that has to be rolled up and stashed somewhere.
