Just a thought....

There is a preview button on the tool bar of this posting form. Don't know that it is used by many but may be used more often to proof posts if the option was next to the POST MESSAGE Box maybe encouraging one last look before uploading?

POST MESSAGE or PREVIEW MESSAGE

I would agree with that - don't know that I was aware there was a proofing option.

IMHO the assistance/how to interface of the RV.net forum is not overly user friendly. Most visitors first priority on this forum is Camping, RV, Travel etc. But the programing of the forum is created by programmers that may not be RV'ers or are so far ahead of the laymen users that it is difficult to comprehend that some are just not that deep into computers but want the end results.

I have first hand experience working with programmers as a liaison with computer users and have the utmost respect for their work. I could never be a programmer and greatly appreciated all they did for the company.

The only way the programmers will know what we would like is if we let them know. I would encourage all members of the forum to submit their suggestions here. There will be no guarantees but if they spot trends in the suggestions we may see some enhancements to make this a more user friendly interface.

This forum provides a great communication and networking service to RV'ers so will just continue to make suggestions in hopes of fine tuning the product for users.

What features would you like to see?

What do you like for your experiences using other forums?

1. There are stickys, HOW TOs in the section Forum Technical Support

2. Upper right hand corner of all pages is the link: Help that goes to Forum Technical Support.

3. For all that many think technical means: rv technical or computer technical, I agree with the forum powers that be that many find their way and post in this section of the site. The section title, Forum Technical Support has to contribute a bit to that.

4. Now, I don't start reading via Active Topics, but there are a lot of posts asking for help. For example, this thread found it's way to FTS. I expect that all of these thread titles are listed at Active Topics & that members find their way to this section from Active Topics.

5. When you reply to a topic, do you click on Reply To Topic? That gives you all the reply software you might need. & if you hover your mouse over the icons in that frame, you can see what they may do for you.

Again, for all that a few posting in this thread to date don't seem to have found the stickys which are forum how tos, can you give Pulsar, et al a clue as to what direction pointer, link, or missing piece of logic would have caught your eye?

& why am I a senior member, of almost 6 years readership reading in FTS daily? Well, like everything else forumwise, most new questions give a new angle another way to use rv.net. I look through FTS daily.

There appears to be 3 ways to post to an existing topic:

1. Quote
2. Reply to this Topic
3. Quick Reply

Quote and Reply to this Topic include the icons to Preview, Spell Check, Bold, Italics, Underline etc. Quick Reply is just straight text no features.

After posting you can look at your post and edit it within a limited time, maybe 30 minutes, and it will not show as being edited. That seems to be the preview function.

"For more posting options use the AdvancedPostForum" That is the line following QuickReply & it has allthe icons. Or at least on my screen. YMMV

PLease read every post before you say what you think.

The icon for preview has been given, early in this thread.

I gave you a whole bunch of ways to learn.

Don't use quick reply if you want preview.
