Hi all, DW and I recently purchased a 2005 Fleetwood Widerness Adavantage AX6 5er. The interior is like new but the outside has some slight oxidation and the graphics are peeling up. Has ayone removed their graphics and if so, how did you do it and how did it come out? Any info would be appreciated!!

We removed the large graphic from the front of our travel trailer because it was peeling and looked unsightly. We just used a safety razor blade and slowly scraped it off, tiny piece by tiny piece. We took great care not to scratch the fiberglass. The remaining glue residue was removed using Goo-Gone.

It took about an hour to remove the whole thing. The only thing noticeable is you can see the outline where the graphic was since that area had never been exposed to the sun. Over time, it will weather and look like the rest of the camper.

I WATCHED a guy using a hair dryer to remove about 3/4 of the graphics from a brand new Eagle travel trailer a couple of years ago. With the new trailer it was pretty easy and his purpose was just to clean it up. With older graphics where they've turned brittle it would probably be a lot harder and will also probably leave some shadow of the images behind when finished.

On cars, yes, heat (hair drier or heat lamp) and a plastic scraper/squeegee.

I have seen entire swoosh graphics come off within seconds from motorhomes at self-serve powerwash car wash places. However, they did it un-intentionally!! The heat and pressure of the water is no match for the giant vinyl stickers.

You need to GENTLY heat the old graphics and peel them. Then remove any remaining glue. Some of the Orange cleaners are good for this. Keep in mind that the finish under the graphics has not been exposed to the sun and weather. There will be a definate difference where the graphic has been removed. It doesn't matter whether it is gelcoated fiberglass or filon, the difference will be there. There is no amount of waxing or polishing that can make it invisible. The good thing is that after a summer of exposer to the sun and weather, the difference will disappear on it's own.

A hot air gun and some patience and they will peel right off.

Go to a auto paint supply and they have a rubber wheel that will take the graphics off and not damage the finish. I used it to take old ones off my RV and it took most of the glue off too. Just make sure you have it at the right speed or it will burn the surface.
