A neighbor parked up a few sites down in their Diplomat came round this evening to tell me that the same year and model of our coach was for sale by parts on the web after a refrigerator fire.

Whew! What starts a refrigerator fire and what can one do to minimalize the risk?

This is an all electric coach with an Amana residential side-by-side unit. Model: SBD21VL MFG Nr.: P1315502WL SN: 9809134266

I'd be willing to bet theirs was NOT a residental refrigerator.

I'd be willing to bet that too. There is so little to go wrong in a residential refer that it's not a worry. Perhaps there was a fire in a Norcold multi-mode operating model like that shown in the sticky on the front porch (here on the forum - back one page).

Norcold did have recalls on the 1200LRIM refregerators because of the posibility it could start a fire. I took mine in for the recall right away. And yes I am almost positive that a Diplomat does not come with a home type frig.

It was sad to see a picture of a 2000 45' Featherlite Vogue 5000 with a burn-hole exactly matching their refrigerator and the interior destroyed. I could not find any recall on our model and I guess all you can do is stay vigelant.

Sitting here looking at pictures of a Santiam Class A that went up in flames @ Topsail in September. Had a Norcold that was not on the recal. We all take our chances.
