I have looked into this several times, and after weighing the economics...it just wasnt there, I get good mileage now, and the torque increase is not that much.....my 275 works just fine.
BY the way, mine is a 5.9....if yours is an 8.3 its a different animal.

But in answer to your question, Banks makes the best kits overall.

i assume the 8.3 is.....a little better than the 5.9?

The 8.3 makes more torque and horsepower can be raised easier....so yes it is probably better.....not sure on fuel mileage.

Before attempting a hop-up, find out how much hp and torque your Allison can handle. I have a 270 hp Cummins and my Allison it nearly maxed out. But, even if I could increase the hp, I'm afraid I'd suffer a loss of fuel mileage. Fuel mileage keeps my mind occupied as I spend the extra time climbing a hill

I believe the OP has a 5.9 ISB. A 2002 date says it might be a 53 block. If so in no case increase the HP. The 53 block can crack and greater stress just increases the chances.

Before this discussion can reasonably go forward, you need to determine if you have the Cummins B or C engine and if you have the Allison 6 speed transmission with electronic shift pad or 4 speed Allison.

At 275 HP, it most probably is the 5.9 Cummins, or ISB engine, and not the 8.3 or ISC engine. Almost all, if not all of the 8.3's of the 2002 vintage would be in the 325 HP and up range.

My concern would be overheating of the cooling system, overheating the turbine, and exceeding the limits of the transmission. I wouldn't do it.

If you're dead set on upgrading the power, consider replaceing the engine/transmission with an 8.3 ISC combination from a wrecked motorhome.

Banks has a kit to increase the HP & torque.
It won't even be near 350 HP with the kit and you will need the Allison 3060 transmission.
MPG will stay the same no less and no more.

Boost pressure will go from 23 PSI to 33-34 PSI.
I have had the kit on a 12 year old 53 block, for over 5 years now with no problem.
I can't remember how many years ago it was, when the last report of a 53 block cracking in a MH.
Anyone else know of any lately?

I think all of them are old enough, if they hadn't cracked by now. It probably isn't going to happen.
If you have a 53 block just warm it up slowly.

If it is a 2002 ISB 275 is about it. I had a 1999 210 ISB and uprated it to 275 RV specs. Aftermarket hop up programmers for the Dodge/Cummins will NOT work on a Cummins 1998.5-2002 ISB motorhome engine. I know I tried. Several said their stuff would but none worked. Totally different engine management computer.
