Hi everyone,

I must be missing something here. I've tried (almost) everything and I can't get my signal lights and brake lights working. I know the bulbs are good because I have running lights. Is there a fuse somewhere I am overlooking? I have played around with the plug, inspected it, did the ever popular "blow into it", plugged it in tight/loose/wiggle it - still nothing!

Help, anyone?

I have a Shadow Cruiser 16-H.

Check your tail light bulb sockets for corrosion and clean if necessary. It sounds like a ground problem, so if you have one take a volt ohm meter and check each socket case to frame ground.

Good luck

Check the fuse box under the hood of the TV. In my truck, there is a fuse box under the dash for truck duties, and another for memote duties, like lights on trailers. I had truck brake lights working fine, but trailer lights not working at all. I had previously hooked up to a bad load, and it blew the fuses.

Easy to check the trailer for proper wiring assuming you have a battery on the trailer or are plugged into shore power. Take the umbilical cord from the trailer and connect a piece of wire from the 12v connector to each of the brake/turn light connectors.

12v is at 11 o'clock. The brake/turn signals are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. The left diagram is looking into the truck receptacle where logically the left and right turn signals are on the left and right side. The cord end connections are a mirror image of this (and match the wiring on the right.

If the trailer wiring is good the problem is with your tow vehicle. Is this a factory towing wiring setup, or did someone put it together? A 12v test light between the same connection points will test the truck. (Remember they're reversed as you look at the truck connector).

Brake and turn signals use a different filament in your light bulbs.
Check ground
Check fuses under the hood.

Brake and turn signals use the SAME filament in dual filament tail light bulbs. The tail lights (running lights) are a separate filament.

Note the descriptions in the "Bargman" diagrams posted earlier. Remember the one on the Left is a mirror image of what the end of the cable looks like.

Unrelated to the problem: You can make extremely tacky "tacky lights" by connecting the 1 o'clock and 11 o'clock connectors on the umbilical cord. Will light all the external running lights on the trailer. Use a blade style fuse just in case.

I wasn't very clear in earlier post.
Brake and turn signals use one filament and the taillights use another filament with in the same lamp.
