Well I hate to admit... but we have a new turbo on order from FORD engineering. We have had trouble with the turbo dumping boost when RPM's between 1000-1500, boost pressure goes over 10 psi. This is under a slight load to heavy load and what ever the speed if it stays with in 1500 RPM and boost goes over 10psi. This has been going on since around the 15000KM give or take. Techs had it for about a week and a half, there efforts along with FORD engineering come up with zip... There solution was replace the turbo as every test was "a pass" and they are at a loss.
Before this was the NOX sensor that was talked about on here at length otherwise it has been great until we have had this issue come up. I have tried to search this forum but haven't had a lot of luck so I wanted to put this out and see if there is anyone else out there having this problem.
Getting a little apprehensive with this being a new truck and how they cost now!!! I hope we didn't make a huge mistake...

There have been very few turbo issues in the 6.7 powered Ford pickup trucks. There gave been some problems with the very different turbo used in cab/chassis trucks.

Great news that your Ford actually has a warranty...mine did not

I don't understand "dumping boost". What is the design pressure at 1,000 to 1,500 RPM?

I'm not sure what the pressure should be... all I know is that the wastegate is dumping as it gets over 10psi as long as the RPM's are staying in between 1000-1500. I know that before this was never an issue, I remember when driving the same terrain before it was well over 10 psi and there was no noise of the wastegate valves making noise. When the RPM get over 1500 it stops and the Boost pressure will go much higher with out dumping pressure.

Yes it is a good thing that this is all warranty.

A WEEK and a HALF? No thanks. I left Ford for that very reason. Too long in the shop and incorrect diagnostics.

I hear ya but when you dump closed to $70K what is someone to do... I'm not made of money so they are my only option. I just have to hope that they get it fixed. If not then I go to the other dealer we have here and hope for the best...

I hope the new turbo fixes it but I would think it would be a wastegate control/computer problem rather than the wastegate, itself. But sometimes I shouldn't try to think! Craig

I don't drive Dodge because of the truck, paint and a flashy interior don't get you home.

The wastegate control has been checked out all "PASSES" and info sent to FORD engineering. Also program updates and such also... So this is where we are at.
