We had a tag on our previous coach and never had any problems. You may or may not have an option to raise the tag for parking. Other than that, you don't need to do anything differently except buy two extra tires when you buy a set. A tag axle is an excellent way to give you plenty of cargo capacity and still be within weight limits.

Contact Spartan with your chassis number if you have any specific questions.

Good advice. The only thing I can add is that there is an air release on the tag. It doesn't raise the tag, but removes the air holding it down.

What year ?? while we were at Spartan their was a guy in with his. I think it was an 08 or 09 Essex and they was replacing the bearings in the tag. I guess they had put some chinese bearing that was defective and the airbags were defective. This is what he told us....I know he was not a happy camper.

Spartan chassis are the best in my opinion. The chassis itself need no maintainance other than the normal grease job. The tag itself needs no maintainence. Brakes under normal conditions will last a couple hundred thousand miles plus, yes you read that right. The engine will require the normal diesel maintainance such as oil changes, coolant, trans services, etc.
Recomended engine service schedules can be found online under the engine manufactures website. Newmar and Spartan is an excellent combo...
