Thank you to the posters who gave info on county parks etc in this thread. It's easy to find National Parks, State Parks...but I love hearing about the county and city parks that are more local knowledge. We are only a year into RV travel, and I am keeping a list!

Much appreciated.

You can park on the beach on Bolivar for free very nice the police patrol the beach so I think it is safe we loved it and we are from Galveston.

I would HIGHLY recommend the brand new Sandpiper RV Resort that is right in front of Stewart Beach on Galveston Island. I stayed there two weeks ago and while it's still under construction it is almost complete and will be fully operational in less than two months.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on this one. I am going to call tomorrow to check rates and make reservations the first weekend of June for the AIA sandcastle competition. We will be able to walk to the competition from there. Cool!

wbrown, if you make reservations, I would call back to verify them in early spring just to make sure. They are brand new and not really open yet although they have people staying there so to save some grief I would verify.

Also if putting your awning out is important, I would get a site that puts your front door facing Seawall Blvd and not the beach.

I hate to tell you this but site numberer 5 is the largest one there because it's pie shaped and it's facing the Seawall so putting your awning out is doable.

Having the awning out is not necessary anyway. Too often the wind is too strong, so not a big deal. Thanks.

Please check out the Sandpiper RV Resort on the east end of Galveston Island just blocks off the ferry if coming from the east. (suggest ride the ferry it's really nice and it can take large RVs and cut off the trip through Houston) This is a new RV resort at the site of the old Sandpiper Motel. www.sandpiperrvresort.com - check it out! It is walking distance to the beach near a brand new McDonald's, across from a Walgreens, a great location.
