OK been watching for one of these for 7 or 8 months. People must like them 'cause I sure do not see them. 23.5 foot already has tandem hitch. Went to all the dealers after the big RV show in Denver. Told them I was looking for a Arctic Fox, Nash or Jayco late 90s under 25 feet. Kettleson in Denver just had one traded in. So I got to look at it before prep. The unit got used but was also taken care of. I know I would get a better price from a private party BUT I have not seen a single one of these in seven months I have been watching. Kettleson said they carried them until the early 2000s. Then Lance made them choose. In fact they sold this one. Also a dealer in Grand Junction. So it is not like Arctic Fox was never sold here. But they just do not show up used. What would be a fair price for this Unit from a Dealer? Any tips to get a better price. There is a newer Nash 01 at another dealer so I am trying to play them off.

You don't give many details, such as model etc...

Here's a link to NADA Valuations: 1998 Arctic Fox- might be a good place to start!

"People must like them 'cause I sure do not see them"

This does not help negotiating for a low price. Popular vehicles of all types sell at "maket prices" above book pricing. I paid more than double the book price for a car that is rare, low miles, desired, and in exceptional condition. It's earned a few awards the last few years. Best thing to do is go in and make an offer. All they can do is say no and go up from there.

I have a 2001 23.5 ft Arctic Fox 5th wheel and will not be trading it in or offering it up anytime soon. Nothing goes wrong with it.

We have a 23.5 2002 that we bought used for about $12,000 four years ago. You are right, they do not come up for sale very often. This is a great size for getting into small camping spots in some state or federal campgrounds but sometimes feels a little tight when cooking if you need to pass through to bathroom or door. It's not a 29 or 31 footer with a big slide. Like anything, it's a compromise. Pluses are that it is very solidly built, but it is also heavy for a 24 to 25 foot 5th wheel. Easy with our duramax but I would not want to pull it with a 1/2 ton truck thinking it's a small 5th wheel. It's a very nice 5th wheel for the right people or type of camping ( I have solar panels for boon docking) but not for those going south and sitting in a nice campground for a month at a time. There are times when I think a 24-5N would have given us a little more flexibility but overall, we are happy.

Had NADA print out when I looked at it today. $6500. The dealer said units typically sell for higher than NADA. They do not have a price yet. Said it would be Wednesday or thursday before they could go over it. Used to tow a 26 foot KZ sportsmen Fiver with the current setup. So truck can handle it no problem.

Might try these sites.

WWW.afnash.com is the Northwood owners forum. Does cost $15-20 to join. They do list for sale units by owners.

Also two Northwood dealers Thunder RV in LaGrande Or & Broadmoore RV in Pasco, WA. Look on E-Bay

Good Luck

How do you know when a Salesman is lying? His lips are moving.

The NADA price is based on the reported sales prices, by dealers. (NADA==National Automotive Dealers Association). So, if the average price, nation wide, is lower then what they are selling them at.....

Now, on to the model, sorry. But the 23-5A was not a very popular model. I can only recall seeing one, in the wild and one on a dealer lot. So, it's rarity has more to do with number sold. The 24-5N was a more popular model. Slightly longer, with more kitchen space and a larger wardrobe.

Over the last couple of years Northwood has been discontinuing their less popular 5ers, including the 21, 23 and 24 foot. Sad really, cause all three had fans.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

I never see Arctic Foxes of ANY size. If I had seen a 24.5 I would probably like them too! Only seen the Nash 23.5 And The Fox. Nash has been on the Lot since before Thanksgiving. Nash is newer and correspondingly less use. Probably want more than I want to spend. Any advice on how to get these guys to give me there lowest price?
