We usually go to the RV show just to say there's nothing as good as what we've got. But... This year we actually saw a really cool (smallish) trailer. It was the first one we went into and nothing else looked as good after that one. It was a Dutchmen Kodiak 242RESL.

There was a large rear window that did not have chairs or a couch facing the wrong way in front of it. The bathroom is the separator between living area and bedroom, but has rounded corners so you can get around it easily. Nice amount of counter space, a double sink, and an oven. Oh, and you wouldn't have to get a crick in your neck to watch TV. Well planned!

From the drawing it would APPEAR that the kitchen and dinette area would be unusable with the slide room closed (or at least require one to climb over the seat. It also appears it might block entry to the fridge unless the slide were open. Did you see it with the slide closed? Might not be a concern for some folks but for one who travels with the RV it could be a big draw back.

Definitely a "to each his own" situation but I will say for us it is very nice to be able to "use" our Eagle with the dinette/sofa slide in (it's a bunkhouse and you can't access the rear bunkroom with that slide in, but that's not really necessary anyway).

Our old Cherokee TT was hard to get through with the dinette/couch slide in because the dinette bench seat came right up close to the kitchen counter part that stuck out. You had to slide through..kind of a pain.

With our Eagle you can walk from the front bedroom through the entire living room/kitchen and right into the bathroom, even with the slide in. You can open the fridge door completely, access pretty much every kitchen drawer/cupboard, etc.

Definitely a huge plus to us.

The picture is a little misleading in that respect - the part of the "lounge" that sticks into the room is actually a separate piece and moves out of the way so nothing becomes unusable when the slide is in.

Very important point!

I've found that drawings can OFTEN be misleading. With that point taken it looks like an interesting floor plan for sure.

I have seen that particular trailer in person and it is a nice, nice set up. If I didn't need a bajillion sleeping spaces for kids, grandkids and others who join us camping....I would really be interested in it.

pasusan,

Are ya gonna get it, or are ya just drool'n?

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know much, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.

This is the type of trailer I wanted. Wife wanted lots of beds. So we of course got beds.

If when the slide is in it is usable then this would make a very good trailer for a couple.

Not gonna get it and not really drooling (well, maybe sorta). We still love the one we have. But it is really nice to see that there actually are other (newer) trailers available with floorplans that we like!

And... You know if we did get it we'd have to lose the Bronco and get a 1 ton diesel.

The windows on this model were really different too - looks like the bottoms open out like jalousies - but the windows were flat against the outside of the trailer instead of inside frames (very modern looking). We couldn't live without jalousies!
