IMO you haven't given enough consideration to the travel time needed between the locations you want to visit. For example, the distance from Rock Mountain NP to Moab is close to 400 miles. That's a full day's drive, so you really have only one day to experience Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point. You really need another day at least, unless you are just planning to do a quick windshield tour. BTW, I highly recommend using route 128 between I70 and Moab. This route goes through a canyon of the Colorado River and is spectacular.
I notice that you have planned for only 26 days for this 4 week trip. If you include the weekends at the start and end you have a possible 30 days. I would save one day for recovery from exhaustion when you get home, so you could add 3 days of sightseeing.
It will be hot in Utah in August.

You will want at least one or two full days in Zion (hike the narrows one day, do things like Angels Landing and Emerald Pools the next). North Rim of CG only needs one day, IMHO.

Keep in mind that, when mountain driving is involved, it will take you a lot longer than to travel a similar distance when not in mountains. Only exception to that that I can see is if you're always or mostly on interstate hwys.

Along I-70;just west of Evergreen is the Buffalo herd overlook. Idaho Springs is an easy exit to BeauJo's Mountain Pizza. They also have an excellent mountain museum. Just west of Exit 205 is the Lake Dillon scenic overlook. Exit 201 take the Frisco "business loop" for an easy-access mountain town. Return to I-70 at the other end of Main Street. Stop at Exit 195 Copper Mountain. Boondock in their parking lot after a free chairlift ride.
Make sure to stop at one of the rest areas in the Glenwood Canyon. Then soak in the hot pools at Glenwood Springs. Take in the Colorado National Monument just off the Fruita exit. Don't miss the Landscape Arch at Arches Park, 300 feet wide and 8 foot high.
Check out the USAProCyclingTour.com, just one month after the Tour de France! We did, what a blast. See the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, absolutely stunning.

If you go thru Green River, UT stop at Ray's Tavern. Best burgers made by old river runners in the west. Also check out the river runner T-shirts. "Sh**ferbrains Expeditions" got my attention.

Is this a mission or a vacation? I was guilty of no planning on our 7 week cross country run last year and we missed a lot but I have no intention of going your route!
I now know that "some" planning maximizes fuel use but if I can't stop at an odd diner that looks interesting then I'd still feel like I was missing a lot.
Unless tomorrow has been promised to you, you better get busy today.

You'll be "hard pressed" to visit all those places in four weeks. You could plan on just doing the northern part one year and the southern part a second year. Some areas require several days to see the sights.

Hi Molly928 My wife and I and our three daughters in 2005 did a cross country trip from long Island NY to California in July it was a great experience that we all still talk about as you we had an itinerary that we followed except we had a minor mechanical delay in Oklahoma city but even that was enjoyable we stayed at a nice campground and and we could still drive our MH we only had to wait for a part to come in it took two days. The only down side was the heat out west we never could seem to cool are coach enough to be really comfortable (while Driving) the sun coming through the big windshield was really hot. So all the best to you and have a safe and fun trip

Hmmmm 4weeks to seethe USA.not good.
Better to go to half of your agressive itinerary and truly enjoy then do more next year.
We've done similar trips but take at least 2 months.

You have it covered but you'll be plenty busy. You may want to cut back on some and spend a little more time in a few places. I'm sure you'll have a chance to return to the West. Once you've visited out there it just draws you back for more. There is plenty of exploring to do out there. Enjoy yourselves, be safe and Happy Motoring!!!
