Yamaha or Honda . I prefer two smaller units that can be hooked together. It is easier to move two smaller units than one large one. Sometimes you only need the one unit.

I sound like broken record . Just bought the Yamaha 3000 with boost technology. Used it only 40 hours. Very impressed with all aspects of it's operation and design. Did a great deal of research. Expensive but worth it. They even have very attractive low interest financing. Like I told a friend if I had not paid cash the $60.00 per month would have been an option. Two weeks ago a Ranger in a Fed Park told me I could run it all night if I needed. "Not enough noise to bother anyone"! I was shocked at that comment. In it's box it's only 49 decibel. Sounds like a home refrigerator.

Have one too....but would not want to be camping next to one running all night. No way.

You'll first need to determine how big (watts) of a unit you'll need and how much you anticipate using it. If you plan to run the A/C, microwave, TV and kitchen appliances you'll need a big unit or two smaller ones in parallel. We very rarely boondock but when we do we forgo all that stuff so I just have a small unit (1850 watts). It is enough to power interior lighting, an appliance or two and recharge the battery. Not as quiet as the Yamaha or Honda units but also half the price.

A Honda EU2000 starts my AC at 800' above sea level, with everything but the AC shut off. I have a cigarette lighter plug by my tv that I use to power it through an inverter. Larger gensets are nice, but remember you have to carry and store them. I have a spare EU1000 that I can parallel with my EU2000 if I need extra power. I really haven't needed it for my summertime parking lot boondocking needs.

I would like to go to Mammoth Cave NP and Ocracoke NP, but the genset quiet hours have scared me off. Would they let a Honda run all night?

Would this run a 15K RV AC?
