I have an Equalizer WDH and need a few more spacer washers. Do I need to go to Progress Mfg to get these or would the local hardware store have them? Anyone have the exact specs on these washers?

There's nothing fancy about them (hardening, etc). Just go to the HW store and get the same size.

On previous TT we had 6000# Equalizer. I needed another washer, so just added one from my junk drawer. After two trips (say 10,000 miles) it was squashed. I replaced with a hardened washer and had no more trouble.

As mentioned above, they are, BTW, hardened washers. I would recommend getting grade 8 washers; they are more than up to the task and won't flatten or deform under stress as a cheaper "hardware store" grade may. A regular washer can compress and that will allow the tension bolt (under the head) to loosen over time.
My 2 cents, your mileage may vary...

There not enough preasure to smash a reg washer. I had to throw one in one time and didn't notice any diff. But at the same time if you need one and have the time to look while looking for one just try and find the hardened 1st.

Yep, happened to me, too. Voice of experience, I wasn't being smart. I "crushed" two standard "hardware store" variety washers. I found them crushed along about Nebraska when I started getting a "clunking" noise from the hitch. Took me awhile to figure out why the tensioning bolt on the bottom of my Equal-i-zer kept loosening up. It wasn't loosening, the two washers I'd put in had crushed and I found it when I noticed that they were sticking up much higer than the Equal-i-zer hardened washers. Even the Equal-i-zer manual specifies "hardened" washers. Grade 8's won't crush or deform.

10,000 miles is a bunch. Mine was only in for maybe a 1000. I guess there a reason they use hardened.

To be a little more specific, generally washers are either ( cheap ) carbon steel, case hardened carbon steel or through hardened. Washers are not usually graded as "grade 5" or "grade 8". What you want is a "through hardened" washer.

Incorrect CLICKY and you can even get them at your local HD/Lowes IIRC.
