If they give you any lip at all, tell them that you hang out on Woodalls/Trailer Life/Rv.Net with the CEO Mr. Marcus Lemonis, Chairman/CEO of FreedomRoads, Camping World and RVS.com!
His Member name is "mlemonis" and he takes a lot of pride in Customer Service everyone shoild get from Camping World! PM him if they don't do the right thing and has on occassion solved issues right here on the forum!
My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.
I will give them the chance to make it "right". (I actually gave them that chance when I offered them my business). As I said earlier, I will keep you informed how they fix this.
And no, I don't want a new trailer, I dropped one off with them. This one. I just want mine fixed (remember, this was an additional AC install on a brand new trailer, nothing was ever broken to begin with). It should come back to me that way.
We'll be waiting to hear how it goes. It would seem from years of reading this forum that there is a great deal of variation in the quality of CW service. Holding their feet to the fire, so to speak, will--we would hope!--help to improve the quality of their service in the future which, from all accounts, Mr. Lemonis is eager to do. I hope they make things right and that you aren't discouraged by some of the 'blame the victim' attitudes that sometimes prevail here.

I had a completely different experience with CW. I took my new "C" to the CW in Bowling Green, Ky. for a sat. dish, HWH levelers, and braided tire extenders. When I got there, they were waiting for me (I made an appointment) and had it up on the lift before I finished the paperwork. When I came back the next morning, it was all finished. They walked me through operating everything, and sent me on my way. 7 years later, everything is still working like it should.

We dropped of our travel traler and they were to install a 13.5 unit that would have it's own plug to use in addition to the AC the unit came with. About 5 days later we got a call to come pick it up, that all done. We came in, paid and took her back to the storage lot that we keep it at.
About a month later, we brought the trailer home and pluged her in in our driveway. We have a 30amp on the house (for when we bring our trailer home) and plugged in the new ac unit as well to try her out. The new unit did cool but we noticed it cycled on and off alot. After some time I open up the unit from inside the camper and noticed that they didn't even frame out the hole that was made to install it(there was no vent in the bedroom where we had it put in so they had to make an opening in the roof for it). The actually used scrap 2by4's to hold up the the roof. Also, the top unit wasn't even connected to the bottom unit allowing cold air to be suck back into the unit causing it to cycle on and off. Nothing was taped with and you can stick your arm all the way in the attic space all around the hole. All the insulation, plywood and aluminum trusses are visible.
I called Camping World and talked to there service manager, also emailed pictures. He was very apologetic and told me that all will be fixed. When I asked how this could have happened, he really had no answer.
Why would an AC even be put on a camper without completely framing it out first to support the weight of the unit? I'm just at a loss trying to figure out why a "reputable" dealership would even allow this type of work to be done. Oh, and I paid $1600 for this scrap wood and shotty install.
They say all will be fixed, I wonder if I should be owed anything in return. I just wonder about those people that wouldn't even know what to look for and wouldn't have caught this...
Why didn't you inspect and operate the unit before you left Camping World??
Where are they supposed to find technicians who know how to properly do this sort of work?
I'm not defending them, I'm just pointing out that one should be aware of the core problem.
Another problem is that buyers fail to do the necessary research BEFORE the selection/purchase of the RV. In the sunbelt, one should never order an RV with just one air conditioner. The installation of additional air conditioners should always be done by the factory. There's really no way to restore this damaged roof structure, certainly not to my standards,.....certainly not by the same outfit that screwed it up in the first place.
Buyer beware, it's always a hard lesson to learn. Sorry
It's worst for me, I'm a perfectionist. I would redo the job myself. No, I would sell it and order a new RV, with two air conditioners.
I'm angry too, I'm still working at fixing the bad roof design on my Newmar. I'm waiting for a dry spell. I'm fixing it MY way.
I'd sell it, except it's worth more to me than what I could get for it. IOW I can't afford to buy what I really want.
I appreciate the Camping World store, and don't mind buying stuff from them. I never have work done by any shop. They can't find any good craftsmen. Sorry

A good and ethical business would refuse to even start on this kind of project if they didn't have the appropriate skill level.
Sorry to hear that. I have said this before. I do all my maintenence and repairs. Was pretty much born with a 9/16 wrench in my hand. I have absolutely nothing against Camping World whatso ever. However, I have been in Camping World,s and have purposely talked to their so called Service Advisors and sales rep's, just to tap their brains. Basically to see what they know. Take it for what is worth from someone who extremely mechnically inclined. They are as clueless as clueless can possiblely get. Also, very expensive. Would not let them wash my tires.
