Thanks Les
I?
Is this an Ipad or an Ipod touch??
Once in Europe unless it has Europe spec connection you probably will not be able to connect to the internet anyhow. Have not been back for several years now, but last time I was there things like Cell service were very expensive to use unless you had a European version.

Only thought is to move to something like Wordpress that open source and very very popular. Edit on any computer and they have apps for iDevices, Droids & even the Windows phone.
No, an application written by Microsoft for Windows only will not run on other platforms. There would be no point in downloading it to an iOS device. I'm not even sure Windows Live Writer is supported on a Windows pad device. If you are going to use a computer other than a Windows PC, you will be using applications that come from someone other than Microsoft.
The iTunes store has more than 2500 iPhone/iPod Touch apps to support social networking, at least one of them should work with your blogging service. Most will likely do more than Windows Live Writer.
BlogPress is highly rated by the people who use it, cost is $3.
BlogWriter at $2 currently handles news feeds in addition to uploading your blogs.
Blogger Pack at the same price is more focus on quick blogging, but hasn't been around long enough to a significant number of user reviews.
Your iPod Touch will connect to the Internet anywhere in the world where you can find (and maybe rent) a WiFi connection. I find WiFi "free" in Starbucks globally for the price of a coffee. I've also found free WiFi in public parks and town squares, and have bought connections in Internet Cafes.
In the U.S. I also find my connections at some rest areas, almost any McDonalds, and a lot of other restaurant chains because they are catching on about losing business to McD on the basis of that WiFi connection.
The iPod Touch does not have a mobile phone connection to the Internet, it is WiFi only. The iPhone has a mobile phone connection, but using that connection outside the U.S. can be expensive.
