Looking for some campground suggestions in this area. We have a 30 foot TT and I would prefer water front or in the woods but I'm open to anything as long as it's nice.

Best place is Platte River cg,Not on the lake but wooded,Located on 22 near the town of Honor,We love it there & very popular so put in reservations now.The cg is part of Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore NP.
Are you looking to book a stay in the middle of the summer?
I second the recommendation for the Platte River Campground. But it would be tough to get a reservation at this point for the summer. We booked our site 6 months in advance, to the day, and it still was a struggle.
You might get lucky and get a cancellation if you try for awhile.....or they do have an entire loop that is non reservable. You just show up early on the day you want to come in and see if you can get a site. They can tell you the night before how many sites will be available the following morning.
If you don't have to have electric service another option is the rustic D.H. Day campground a few miles north of the Platte River campground.
These campgrounds are not waterfront but are in a wooded setting.
Our vote is for Platte River Campground too. We loved it there. I was late getting our reservations last year too, but I check every morning, at lunch and at night. Someone canceled and we got lucky. Great ranger programs at night! Have a great trip! We loved our Michigan Great Lakes tour last summer!
Holiday park in Traverse city, sites on silver lake, Interlochen state park, except its electric only, and Lake Leelanau rv park, all have lakefront sites , but at this late in the game are likely all taken, maybe you can get a cancellation or settle for a non lake front site.

DHDay campground is both on the water and in the woods. Both are awesome campgrounds! We volunteered nine seasons at Platte River so we're a little partial.

Where are you headed in the UP? If you are headed to Lake Superior, there are several state parks that are fine for base camp setup. We do not spend much time at the campground while in UP. Out and looking.
