We just purchased what I believe to be a rare unit to fix up and use full time. From what little I can find out it is a 32 foot 1976 Holiday Rambler Park Model with two tip outs? It is completely intact, has been in two parks here in south Florida all of its life! Probably towed less than 15 miles over 36 years!

We have fulltimed it for the last year in a 2001 Coachman 28 foot bunk house. Our family consist of 4, me, my wife and our two son 14 and 3. We quickly discovered the Coachman is way too small! We do like the simpler less cluttered lifestyle and this opportunity arose to buy the classic Holiday Rambler Park.

I found one sheet from an old magazine with a picture of the outside, that is all I can find as in history and facts on these units, any light is a plus.

It is structurally sound, all the skin and underbelly is intact, the interior needs painted and some tile and carpet. The ceiling is in very good shape, the roof appears to have been well maintained, so no leaks. The floors are all solid, the kitchen cabinets and hall cabinets are original. The stove, refrigerator and instant water heater have been replaced in the last couple of years with modern equivalents.

The living room has a sliding glass door that appear original?? There appears to have not been any built in in the living room or back bedroom? What was there originally to make good use of the space?? The living room tilt out is almost 4 foot deep and 99 inch long, the bedroom tilt out is the same dept but 65 inches long. The tip out appear to be fiberglass?

We will be setting it up on our lot this weekend and will know a lot more. It does have a conventional toilet with sewer hook up for all drainage It looks almost like a travel trailer but has a higher front roof, tip outs and convention plumbing and non rv frig and bigger propane stove and oven.

We hope to restore it and preserve a strange little bit of the Seventies Travel Trailer Industry. I will post picture soon

So are you going to park it on a seasonal site?

Very good, question. We have lived here in this park almost a year, I run a second business for the park owner. We have a spot in the park, it is a seasonal park, half our residents are retired in mobile homes and the others are winter travel trailers and Canadians.

So, yes we are parking it in a seasonal park for now. Being it is only 32 foot long towing it is not out of the question, it look like a travel trailer but a park model too?

So I an seeking more information.

Thanks
Dennis

I'm not sure how towable those are. Seems like I read that they have lots of tongue weight but what I don't remember for sure.
So the tipouts are manual right? How do they work, when they're in, is the side sealed up? Just curious!

Your questions are very valid, I have pretty much the same questions! I have no idea how heavy the tongue weight is, I have been researching for dozens of hours and still know very little!

The previous owner is towing it for me this Thursday or Friday and it is moving 7/10 of a mile. he has a one ton dually truck that he move it with before from the previous park. So we are going to move it with the tip outs, out at very slow speeds. As the are very well sealed and not leaking! The tip out are on mounted on big heavy piano hinges and appear tip in and lay on the floor, how you seal the remaining opening when they are in, I have no idea! But hope to learn from any literature I can find or someone may have access to and is willing to share information.

I love the old trailer sand the idea of redoing this one someday in a classic modern theme with high tech upgrades. I want it to be unique to me and what I dream. That is going to be a lot of the fun!

Thanks for the good questions
Dennis

As you say the tip outs do tip in and lay down on the floor. The opening is usually covered with a vinyl or canvas cover that snaps over the opening. I really don't think that it's a very water tight set up when the tip outs are in and I would also worry that traveling long distances might result in a cover coming off while going down the highway. Sounds like a great trailer for a permanent site though.

Should make a great camp. I've always wanted to do something like that with an old tin can type from the 40's!

Hello, I have been offline for a while as we worked to transition between trailer units. I discovered while redo parts of the systems that I have no power in my tilt outs.
There appears to have once been "jumpers" that plugged into the main trailer and then plugged into the tilt out to provide electric to lights an outlets? Do any of you have knowledge of this type of arrangement? I am learning new things daily as we work on our "Holiday Rambler Classic"

The tilt outs require a short jumper or extension cord to connect to the main trailer chassis power. I now have power in both of my tilt outs by using extension cords temporarily.

I plan to make a couple of short heavy duty outdoor grade cords to use specifically for these connections.

I also had an electrician look at my trailer and some one had overloaded one of the wiring circuits with an over rated breaker. The wiring is aluminum instead of copper. We have that fixed and have power on all circuits!

The remodel is moving forward!

PICS or it didn't happen

No really this sounds cool and I'm sure the improved SQFT will be great.

Wile I do have a "funny" mental image sure would be great to see the real thing pre and post.

Have fun
