We just bought tires because we live in Arizona with a lot of sun and dry heat. We already lost a tire several years ago out in the middle of nowhere. We limped along the roadside for hours in the middle of the night. Some woman saw us and stopped to give us directions to a tire store in the next town. We slept in the parking lot of the tire store. We exchanged numbers and she called us after we got into town to see if we needed food. She said her name was Monica--was she an angel? No,the owner of the tire had never heard of her. Buy some tires...the person who stops to help you may not be so nice.

Has anyone tried the Continental HSR1 tires on their coach. Getting ready to replace mine and am wondering how good or not these tires are.

My rig was 12 years old when I bought it in 2008, and it had the original 22.5 Michelin XRV tires on it. Mileage was about 45k at that time. They still looked great, but I replaced them with a new set of XRV's that I bought at Camping World in Mesa, AZ (they were 7 months old).

I think the 2 original owners kept tire covers on the original tires since new. I will continue this practice, and won't worry about replacing them as long as they coninue to look good, or get close to 10 years old.

Finally got the tires I wanted. It took a while because dealers kept trying to push 12-16 month old tires. I ended up with 4 month old Toyos for the same price as the older manufactured ones. Thanks for all the advice here and on another posting on this website. Ready for my coast to coast trip, now.

Continental is noted for their steer tires, and that appears to be one of their truck/bus steer tires

So, since the majority think that RV tires should be replaced in 5 or 6 years regardless of wear, is my only option to get with a big dealer and insist on a manufacture date of 6 months or less?

Try getting quotes from Les Schwab. If you can get up to Oregon you'll even save the sales tax. We got our Michilin replacements at Les Schwab, Colburg. We specific an early mfg. date and all came in with the same 3-month date. As full-timers, we didn't care where we got them but Les Schwab came in the lowest. Good luck!

I ordered new tires today as a matter of fact. I have Michelin 235/70 r 22.5 and the only reason that i am replacing them is for peace of mind. The tires are 8 years old and in great shape, i just do not want to be on side of the road with a flat tire because i wanted to save a few dollars.

The only year ruling I know of in NY is on school buses and they have a 10 year take off. 2/32 in tread or any crack that goes to cords. Rember this is a school bus.
