I am surprised this is even a discussion.

We'll go for months before needing to empty.

We do not sit in the campsite all day. We are out and about every day, using any public restroom we run across. DW and I are not afraid to use the woods, either. It is a rule never return to out rig with a full bladder. We only use our black tank at night because we are seldom at the rig during the day.

Five days, tops. Why would we want to stay longer? What's there?

We have stayed as long as 3 months. However there were clean showers and restrooms handy.I used the 26 gal tote when needed,to take to the dump site.No big deal, just hook it to the hitch ball on the truck and drive slow.We enjoyed the area with the piece and quiet. We will probably go there again this year.

We can do about 10 days on the black tank with a family of 4 and no particular restrictions. We tote the grey water. We had a friend stay on our FW on our property without a sewer for 3 months. We toted the grey and had to pump the black out twice. One person - he was there most nights but really only to sleep.

We have been to places where they had no sewer hookup but would pump your tank for $20 or so. That worked out fine.

If the place is really nice and really inexpensive - I'd consider an extended stay... but if the choice was pulling it over to a dump station every few weeks it would not be my favorite.

We seldom stay anywhere more than three or four days unless we're volunteering and then we always have W/S/E. When on the road we take the least expensive site that's available which is often W/E. We do stay at SP's and NP's which generally don't have sewer but most have shower houses and all usually have dumps. DW prefers our facilities I have no problem using the park facilities.

I can't see really using a portable tote while snowbirding. We would be using it to dump the gray water every other day at least. As ChopperBill said, we didn't buy our trailer with facilities to use other facilities. We bought it so that we wouldn't have to use other facilities. I could of saved the nearly $60k forthe trailer and tow vehicle and got something without the bathroom/shower. Heck I could of done without the microwave, stove/oven, refrigerator too and just eat out...lol

We stayed 7 nights at one. DH has the tote for the gray water & hauled it to the dump station numerous times that trip. We were near a bathhouse, so we didn't have to use the shower or even the toilet in the camper too much. We did wash all of the dishes in the camper though. That was our first time, and next time I'll wash the dishes outside with water boiled over the campfire instead of inside the camper. Lesson learned. We used the dump station for the black water tank before leaving on the last morning.

My parents did this type of camping for three weeks every summer for about ten years at the same place & same type of place. At that point, the places didn't electricity at the sites either. It couldn't have been too bad or we wouldn't have done it. Back then it was $3/$4 per night to camp. Now its $20/night. Where else can you stay for $20/night & still have electric hook up & access to a bathhouse & running water?
