When we had our house built had the builder run a line from the RV pad down to the septic tanks. The tanks were sized for 2 1/2 baths (3 bedrooms). Never have had a problem. I figured that we were gone for a while the level in the tanks would be lower and could handle the inflow.

I have a cleanout pipe between the house and the tank. I just pull the cap, hook up the hose an dump. It really makes life easy when you come home with full tanks.

The sewer clean-out access is alongside the house - we just tap into that and screw the cap back on after dumping. I believe most homes have a clean-out somewhere - ours was found about 3 inches under the surface, but now we know where it is.

X2 on the wash out!! What they dont know waont hurt them! That is my intention when I replace my sewer line here at my place.
X3 What you want to do will work fine and there's no sense in getting some local gov. into it unless you just want to spend more money for nothing.

el.jefe wrote: Anybody ever installed a place to dump the trailer tanks at home? We've got a septic tank, and looking at it it just doesn't seem like it would be all that complicated to run a pipe at a downward angle from near the driveway to the tank so I could empty the trailer tanks at home. We camp without full hookup a lot and generally not too far from home, having the option to come home and dump rather than wait in line at the dump station is appealing. Also because I'd like to use the camper as kind of a guest house this summer, and a working bathroom would be a big benefit.
Anybody done this who can point me in the right direction?
You can put a "clean out" anywhere you want. If it happens to be near the drive way and happens to be large enough to handle an RV dump, so be it. I wouldn't mention it to anyone. Just do it.
I know it's worked fine for me.

As already mentioned, many local governments will levy a fee on extra sewer hookups, but installing a cleanout is no problem.
Make sure you tell everyone it is just a cleanout.

Our town building inspector had our contractor rename the "4 in. RV dump fitting" on the plans for our new septic system as a "4 in. clean out". No other changes were required to handle the motorhome waste.
