Our groomer discovered something that looks like dark matter around one of Andy's back toes. She cleaned it as best as she could, but some matter is still present. He's licking that back foot, but lets me handle it. Could this possibly be an infection? Anyone have experience with something similar?

Try soaking it in hot water with salt. It's probably an infection that has to be drained. Salt will draw it out. Try a Vet on line they may help more.

Hi Rita,

Nail bed infections are pretty common. Soaking them is usually necessary and often times antibiotics are needed. If it doesn't clear in a few days, at trip into your vet is indicated.
