The correct answer. When refilling you have to dribble it in slowly to get an accurate fill.

2qt is rite, someone needs to invent a container that screws into the fill hole and holds 2qts so you can just fill it up and let it go!
I'm not that smart,I'd buy one

I've got an older Onan 5.5 generator and right near the oil fill it states 3-1/2 quarts. Dodn't even have a owners manual either. If you think 2 qts is right, just put in 2 qts and check the oil level to see if it's up to the full mark, if not, add oil until it does.

My Marquis 7000 uses 3 1/2 quarts of 10W30 and a Fram 3600 filter. HTH.
Don't forget the air filter.

One thing you need to do is have it level. My 5.5 (2002) has to be level to get it full. Don't have it here now but think mine is either 1.5 or 2 qts including the filter. It will take about 15 mins to fill it. Takes it real slow.
Good luck
