I am preparing to reactivate my water system since it was winterized. I had the unit winterized at Camping World. The tech informed me "to put the 3 valves located near the hot water heater in the opposite position" once i reactivate the water system.I did as instructed. I have the hot and cold valves "in-line' and the hot water tank by-pass valve is perpindicular to the line. I opend the faucets when I connected to CG water supply and have water flow from each. I have not turned on the water heater yet because I wanted to confirm the cut-off valve is in the correct position. I am thinking that I would not have had water flow from the hot water faucet if I did not have the water heater "by-pass valve"in the correct position. I am pretty sure it is in the right position. If someone can confirm this I would appreciate it. Thanks. Jim

Sounds to me like you have them in the correct position.

As an added thought, make sure you have bled all the air out of the lines.

Make sure you do have water in the hot water tank, especially if you're going to use the electric side of the tank. You don't want to burn out the element.

Sounds like they are in the correct orientation. To be sure, until you've verified their correct positioning, remove the exterior water heater panel and give the pressure relief valve a short lift while still under pressure (either water pump or shore water). If the valves are correctly positioned, you should get water out of the pressure relief spout. If you don't get water, the valves aren't correct (unlikely). Common valve assemblies are set up such that the valve handle being perpendicular to the pipe shuts off flow, handle aligned with pipe allows flow.

My 2 cents, your mileage may vary...

Turn on the water heater to be sure, you cannot hurt anything if one is wrong.

Turning it on with them not correctly set can CAUSE damage your heater. Yours sound correct but I'd go out and gently lift the pop off handle to be sure water comes out so you know there is water in the tank BEFORE turning it on since you sound uncertain.
