These are sold a few miles from me for big rigs and the truckers love them. Thinking about one for my TC. I see alot of trucks at their shop getting them installed. http://www.truckfridge.com/store/page5.html

Why not a true camper frig that allows you to run on propane?

Will work if you have a lot of battery bank and solar. Truckers get by with it because they are almost alway running so don't have to worry about the 3A draw.

For a couple hundred more, you can get a Norcold 300.3 which will run on propane, AC, or DC. DC isn't pratical though unless you are running since it draws 10A continuously.

But they will also actually keep your food cold unlike the absorption type.
The 6A draw listed on the first one on the site is pretty high, there are better ones that are 2-3A when running.

Just looking for something that will keep a constant temperature. I am not a boon docker and usually am at a NHRA race. It seems I have to set the fridge according to outside temperature. If its 65 when I go to bed and temperature drops to 50 at night then everything is frozen in the morning. Then I turn it up in the morning before I go to the track all is thawing out at 1:00 in the afternoon when it 65 again.

A good DC frig (like my now old fashion Tundra) will keep frozen things frozen (0 deg), and refrigerated things refrigerated (40 deg).

The big rigs usually have either 3 or 4 batteries with at least 650 CCA. Not too sure how many of our t/c's have that much battery power.

It is true the trucks run a lot, but there are a lot of places that do not allow you to idle anymore. There are combo batteries that are cranking and deep cycle. Might help you with the power requirements.
