Weazletoe, since when did using bottled water equate with conservation? Those plastic bottles are totally jamming up our landfills and roadsides and, with the water standards in place these days, there is no real reason to buy, and drink, bottled water to claim a person is conservative. Now if you are talking about conserving the fresh water tank for washing, showering, etc. so you can boondock longer, it's probably not a bad idea. By the way, do you re-used the bottled water bottles?
I'm talking about conserving water in the tanks while boondocking. We do not reuse the bottles. We recyle. Whether boondocking, or at home or where ever, we recycle everything possible.
You'll have an easier time keeping your system clean if you only use chlorinated water to fill your tank instead of well water.
I have a well at home and even though softened it has a high iron content. it doesn't keep well at all. I just take enough water form home to get me to the first stop, then dump the well water and fill with chlorinated water.
After a few days well water gets to stinking to where you don't want to use it to flush the toilet! Not to mention bathing in it.
