If you are looking for volunteer positions at state parks in exchange for a site, I don't think you will have trouble finding something if you aren't picky about where you go. When we started looking, we found opportunities immediately. I saw several paid positions available also, but those seem to require commitments of a lot longer period of time.

This is 4th year volunteer in State Parks. We love it. Always at a great location that you can't get at private parks. We have volunteered in New Mexico, Texas and are heading to middle of Georgia in the fall. There is little to no work involved and the people you work with are great. Try it you will love it

My wife and I are in our 4th park. All positions took about 2-3 months to get and all are volunteer. My wife has a full time position as an accountant, with all her work done over the internet. It's a private company that hires experienced accountants and has no reservations about where we live.

You may want to look at working at rv parks where they need someone for the office and he could probably get on with the maintenance department. We have been doing this the last three years and enjoy doing this work.

I know a lot of folks think there is something complicated about getting a work camping position and I'm sure that may be the case for some positions. I've only work camped for 3 summers out of the last 8 and in every case, I was at a location I liked, went to the front office to inquire about work camping and was put to work the next day. All were site in exchange for work postions and no money changed hands. Maybe I just got lucky.

Same with us. In the past two years we applied for and were accepted for four positions, two of which we accepted. Last year we were state park volunteers. This year we are working for a Texas city as independent contractors and getting paid plus a FHU for doing what we gave away last year. maybe we were just in the right places at the right time?
