I want to tow my 2007 Silverado 4x4 behind my RV. What is required to flat land tow a 2007 Sivlerado 4x4?
It has a neutral switch that according to the owners manual puts the transfer case in neutral and allows you to tow the truck, but how far without damage? Does the driveshaft need to be disconnected?
How do I tie in the braking system?
My friend just got back from Arizona and he towed his 2007 GMC both ways and I tow my 1999 Silverado. Check your owners manual for the proper procedure for flat towing, it should in there. My older model is different than the newer models, or so I was told.
The best advice is to ask a dealer service department if in fact the operators manual does not describe clearly. My Lincoln's manual was not real clear so I got the "crystal clear" info from TWO separate dealers.
We tow a 05 GMC Sierra 4X4. You put the transfer case in N, the transmission in P, remove the key, it does NOT have a steering lock, lock the doors and it's ready to tow. There are NO restrictions on speed or distance, NO fuses to pull and it tows very easy. For brakes, we use a classic 12+ year old Brake Buddy set at the highest position for panic stop only. It is NOT a light vehicle, as ours scales at close to 6000#, ready to tow, but it is the best toad we have ever had.

We have an '05 Silverado 1500 and our procedure is identical and we use the same Brake Buddy. I've towed the truck thousands of miles all across the U.S.
I have an '07 Suburban 4x4. Yours will be exactly the same so just read the owners manual and go! It is very easy. We use a Roadmaster Even Brake to help with the stopping needs. With 5,700 extra pounds behind us, a little extra braking can't hurt!

I spoke with an engineer from general motors before i purchased my 2008 4x4 sierra 1500 and told him what i wanted to do. He said " these trucks are designed to but towed much like the saturn vehicles and there are no limits to speed or distance". I have been towing mine ever since and never had a problem.
