There are a few things I can recall:
LT tires tend to be less expensive.
Trailer tires have a stiffer sidewall which leads to less scrubbing and reduced sway.
In some states there may be a legal requirement to run a trailer tire.
With the above, there may be potential liability issues if not running the approved tire.
As for quality, well I suppose that would be dependent on the brand.
I'd also like to suggest running nitrogen in your tires. Helps to keep the temps more stable and reduce leakage.
But...to be fair, there are some LT tires desiged to be used on a trailer too.

The search button can be your friend...

But since I'm here anyways, I have a 2007 raptor 3612, stock 15" wheels and last year after a blowout (after having the Carlisle's for 5 years) and noticing that the rest were getting checked, I too bought some Maxxis 8008s, load range E. Beefier tire, more square shouldered, the old ones looked bulged sitting there with full pressure, very happy with them. Got about 1000 miles on them. Very happy.
