Finally got our first trip out in the new TT and everything was great except the weather. The kids had a blast, we enjoyed it tremendously. Got everything packed up this morning to head home, instructed DW on backing me up to hook up the TV and suddenly I see the whole TT rock from side to side.

I immediately knew what happened. As she was raising the TT with the electric jacks one of the stabilizer jacks (that I forgot to raise up first) gave out under the pressure.

I walked around and sure enough one of the rear stab jacks was mangled. The threaded rod through the middle was bent in two places and it was bent at about 45 degrees to normal. GRRR. Luckily I brought tools along on the first trip just in case. So I took it off and we hit the road.
Talked to a friend and he said he has two new ones still in the box. So my stupidity won't cost me money but it sure made me feel stupid. At least I got it out of the way.

If you have read here for a while you realize that is a minor mistake. All of us have done dumb things before

Welcome to the club. We have all done stupid things. I did several in my first year last year and we are still here to laugh at them. The key is to keep a sense of humor about it.

If that is the worst thing that happens to you count yourself lucky. We have all had things happen. last year for instance going into a camp ground we have gone to dozens of times I cut a corner too sharp and hit a tree that was right on the edge of the road. New roof and awning later and we are back on the road.

Obviously the jack was defective, or possibly installed incorrectly by Keystone! And Keystone probably failed to put a warning label on the jack warning you not to drive off with the jacks down. So it's clearly Keystones fault!

You are also entitled to renumeration for the humiliation you suffered, and the trama you and your family had to endure because of this unfortunate incident.

And we will see to it that all medical bills will be re-inbursed.

We at the Firm would have been more than happy to represent you in a legal settlement...except you admitted complete responsibility!

Quote-"So my stupidity won't cost me money but it sure made me feel stupid."

So we regretably decline to represent you at this time. You're W-A-Y too honest and truthful for us!

After today you will get in to a routine. Dont EVER deviate from your routine when setting up or breaking down. No worries, your situation was minor compared to most!

No biggy.

Might I suggest a checklist. Even airplane pilots use them and look how good they are.

Well you all let us know the power jack is stronger than the stabilzers! Thanks for sharing.

As mentioned, have a routine and stick with it. I have my responsibilities and she has hers when its setting up or breaking camp.

Here's my learned from experience, never ever leave your truck in neutral when driving off the leveling blocks to go pick them up. Yup, they also are chocks in certaing situations. That was five seconds of heart stopping action when i yanked that block from barely under a tire.

We don't have checklists but we do have routines, one that my wife goes thru inside and one I go thru outside. These were contrived after making a couple similiar learners mistakes like you did. Taking a last walk around the rig before pulling out is the most important to us as it catches the most mistakes.
