I have read through a majority of the posts, but none quite answered my question. Someone took my Yamaha 3000 SieB model and I am thinking of replacing with the 2000w models run in parallel to obtain a higher wattage/amp rating. I can not find reliable data on the Yamaha or Honda, even on the Wise Sales page.
Does anyone have experience on this? Opinions? Based on what info I found on the Wise page, the Yamaha seems to have a higher rated wattage in parallel, but they do not give the amp rating in parallel. I know there will be a drop off and the 2000w rating is a high load figure with 1600 being the general rating, but I am looking for someone with more info.
PLEASE, do not tell me to look into the Chinese alternatives. I am not interested. I am only looking into the red/blue category.

Unless total output of two generators is a critical value, I doubt that the difference in output is terribly significant. In your shoes, I'd buy the two that were the lowest total price including the parallel kit.
BTW I'd never recommend Boliy to anyone--but I believe that the Champion 2k units are extremely well thought out as far as "stacking" them together.

When I was researching this I found the Honda EU2000 in parallel was 3200 watts rated and 3600 surge. The Yamaha EF2000 is a little higher at 3600 watts rated and 4000 surge.
The conversion to amps is just mathmatics, divide the watts by the voltage, 120 volts in this case.

I found out some more info after calling back to Wise a couple of times and shopping for a rep that had better knowledge than "buy the Honda, we sell sell them 10-1 compared to the Yamaha." I hate that type of customer service as it really tells you nothing about the products.
They confirmed the 3600 number for the Yamaha, but he stated (unverified yet) that 3600w is the max you can get through a 30A plug. His opinion was that they Yamaha gives you a couple of things the Honda does not in a fuel gauge and shut-off in a slightly lighter package. Since I live in lovely California, it is also $200 cheaper. The Honda does not have as high of a power rating in parallel either so I guess that will be the way I go.
Maybe having the 7 year old set stolen wasn't such a bad thing after all. Especially since it was taken from a friends house and they are paying for the replacement!
I have thought about this myself, and I would give the nod to the Hondas, even though the Yamahas have the fuel petcock (which allows you to run them dry before storing them.)
The main reason is that it is very easy to find an extended run kit with a top quality gas cap (you don't want to modify the ones that came with the generators.) This will allow you days of run time before having to get gas.
I highly recommend you get two handle reinforcing kits, a security chain (not a cable), and a sturdy padlock (I use ABUS or SOBO padlocks) to make sure the twins don't walk off in search of their 3000 watt buddy.
i have the 2000's paralleled. works great. the honda will give you 3200W continous, claimed 4000W surge in parallel, but as I have found, amongst others, that the honda will deliver the 2000watt rating only a very short time (<1 min), not the 30minutes claimed.
what I can say is that with both hondas in eco mode, 100F, 4000ft, and the ac starts every time, no fuss no muss, even with the converter charging the batteries and the ice maker (300W) chugging away.

I have two EU2000's (and pictures of a home-brew parallel kit) and my brother has a Yamaha 3000SeiB. We camp together multiple times a year so I am very familiar with both setups. My observations:
Pros:
Honda - light enough to carry around. Only need 1 to power anything in the trailer except the air conditioner.
Yamaha - Electric start. And has remote option. Can run anything in RV including air conditioner.
Cons:
Honda - You need 2 to run the air. Running the air uses a tank of gas in about 5 or 6 hours. Must buy or build an auxiliary tank. Pull start.
Yamaha - Oh my is it heavy. I am a big guy but I can not carry it by myself.

Yep +1 on the weight issue. In that aspect, I do not miss the 3000. With some muscle and proper form I managed to move it in/out of the pack n play door on the bunkhouse and the back of the Excursion (with a 4" lift on it no less!) It will be missed but I think I will be going with the Yamaha 2k gens on parallel system. Partially due to much cheaper price and because I think the overall power rating is better. Thanks for the info and good photos on your power cables.
The extened run set up is also available for the Yamaha, no problem. I cant remember the rating, but the amount of time the unit is rated to last also goes to Yamaha. Plus you get a little longer run time with Yamaha, due to more minutes per gallon of fuel rating. Yamaha hands down! Period!
I would choose the one that has a dealer closest to my home with service and a well-stocked parts department.
Both of these units are highly regarded and with basic self-servicing will give you many years of reliable performance. But, that one time you need a part and can simply run down the street to pick it up is priceless.
