I changed my 1141 to the same 36 1210 SMDs as you did and I think they are great. To me they are the best compromise for color, brightness and current drain.

Thanks again for all the info. I will try to do as suggested, change the wiring. Hope that's not too hard!

If you take out the screws that hold the lights to the surface and pull the wires out a little, you will probably find wire nuts connecting the wires from the lamp to the 12v wires from the converter. Unscrew the wire nuts and reconnect the wires with the light wires to the different power wire. Tighten the wire nuts and you should be all set. Try the light out before putting the light back in place. By the way, it is better to remove the fuse before starting this.

Let us know how it goes.

So it would have been hooked up backwards from the factory? Is that normal?

Yes

I ordered a bunch, and some were wired with the polarity reversed. But the ones I got had a little 2-pin plug inline between the light panel and the adapter, and I was able to just reverse the plug (so red went to black and black went to red wire, instead of red to red, black to black)

This spring I converted all of the lights in my trailer to LED. I used the 48 SMD White LED Light Panel bought off of Ebay. Looks great. I chose the cool white because the blue-white light appears brighter to me than the warm white. I converted all 4 interior lights plus the exterior one next to the door. So far all is well.
Since the LED's I bought didn't come with the T15 bases, I made my own. Un-soldered the T9 base and resoldered the pigtail to the T15 bases I bought separately. Total was less than $3.50 per light. I didn't have any reverse polarity issues, but I can see where the RV manufactuer woudldn't worry about it for the lights.

We just returned from 4 days camping in a provincial park with no hook-ups. This was the first longer test of the 48 LED panels which I installed into the lights in the motor home and we couldn't be more pleased.

The lighting level is higher than for the original incandescent bulbs which we knew but having used them for some camping time, including reading, Scrabble games and other living, the lighting is better. A bonus is that the two small solar panels we have recharge the batteries completely over the course of a day so there was no need to run the generator excepting for recharging of laptop battery.

Next thing is to tackle the noisy range vent and bathroom vent fans. They are the originals which I serviced a couple of years ago when we bought the rig but time to quiet them down.
