We leave today! There is a light mist which is inhibiting some of the last minute chores including bathing Abby. Surprisingly we both slept well last night and are raring to go this morning.

For those like us who abandon stick houses for extended periods, it is a real PIA trying to remember what we need to do before pulling out of the drive. I make lists, revise lists, start new lists and still have a niggling feeling there are some things left off.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to use my own Internet on a regular basis; we are switching to a different satellite and have been told we should be ableto get reception in AK assuming there is a clear line of site. (Those pesky trees and mountains often get in the way.)

Hope to see fellow travelers on the road this summer. Have a great summer wherever you are.

I started a list 2 months ago (despite hubby saying over and over "they DO have stores along the way")- and as of this morning everything is checked. 30 minutes from now we head out and I wish each of you a safe journey with lots of sunshine along the way!

The first time I fretted crazy. Second time, not so much.
Now, we just go and don't fret.

Hope your trip goes well, Diann! It is a grand adventure!
Hope you can post some pictures as you go ...

Regarding pre trip agenda my dad use to make a list and I always thought he was odd. Now, after leaving or forgetting to do stuff, guess who is making a list? My kids may think this is odd. More than what you take might be what you leave behind when you finally roll away. Make a list, slow down and have fun. What a grand adventure awaits you both. I am envious. Happy trails to you and yours. Keep us informed.

Have a good trip. Sorry I will not get to see you like in 2008.

Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Diann, your outlook re. trees is shared by inuit.

I remember being told "I hate trees, they just get in the way".

To which I replied: "I love trees. Each one is different. They provide shade. They make a cooler space amongst them. They save water and keep rain from rolling away. .....

Have more fun than you did in 2008.

BTW do you get many geese up there? I find there are quite a few staying in my neighborhood.

& I hear that breeding pairs of eagles are getting quite competitive for feeding territory. Let us know if you see more of these in your travels than in times past.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

Little Kopit, saw a pair of Canada geese (I finally learned to not say Canadian geese) today in the grass median (wide) on the Kansas Turnpike aka I35. Have seen a couple of more but only 1 or 2 at a time.

P.S. You know I am a tree hugger from way back! I do love trees and hate to see any cut down BUT I am hooked on my satellite connection so I just look for someplace somebody else cut them down (LOL).

Ah, but one of the nice things about this trip is getting away from the internet, email, the TV, and the cell phone, and getting back in touch with nature. Our favorite thing about RVing is sitting around the campfire in the evening, sharing a glass of wine and conversation with our new best friends who pulled in next to us. Yes, it's nice to have phone service and internet every few days, but the quiet times in between are what makes the trip worthwhile. Besides, it's an election year and all you're gonna see on TV and the internet is political garbage and mud slinging.

Jim, in my heart I know you are right but in my head I get anxious without contact to the outside world. I don't mind turning off the contact myself but I want it done at my discretion.

Silly, but for me that makes a difference.
