The fabric isn't the issue- this type of vinyl really doesn't stretch much. The problem is the tube bows- same as using a center rafter on the main awning.
Nah, I don't think so. Supporting the tube will not keep the water from pooling in the middle of the fabric, which was the topic of conversation.
And a center rafter in an awning runs the depth of the awning supporting the fabric, this device just supports the slide topper tube, not the fabric itself.

Um- yes it will, and in fact, it does.

Not if it is installed correctly- the fabric does not touch the rafter. The rafter just holds the tube straight.
I've got a slide topper on my current rig, and I'm thinking of just removing it and doing without. I never had a topper on either of my previous rigs, and don't see the need for this one. When it starts causing problems, it's no longer worth having as far as I'm concerned.
Chris,
This looks like it will solve my problem. I am wondering if it will discolor the topper fabric at the contact points? At this point, I think I would prefer that to the water collection problem and the stress the weight of the water puts on the fabric and the topper mounting hardware.
Thank you so much for this information.
