Hi all. Going to Yellowstone and have a mild fear of heights especially when a drop-off is just next to highway at elevation. Knowing this fear, what routes should I avoid? Thanks.

Enter by way of Jackson, WY and then through Grand Teton National Park (you ARE planning to tour there, too, aren't you?) and then the south entrance of Yellowstone. Depending where you're heading from there, the west entrance would be good for an exit or the north. The east and northeast would be last choices. If you're coming from Arkansas you're just gonna have to cross those Rockies somehow unless you really go out of your way. Hope you can enjoy the parks. They're awesome are really, are not scary drives. In the Grand Tetons our favorite campgrounds are Gros Ventre and Colter Bay. In Yellowstone we've stayed at Grant, Madison, and Mammoth is our favorite. Have a great trip!

you can get to Jackson WY from I-80 via Rock Springs WY. There is a little campground on the Green River about 20 miles northwest of Pinedale, good for an overnight camp, with water and a dump station.

Yes to Grand Tetons. Also, thinking Cody, Badlands, Mt Rushmore, and more. Have up to 4 weeks.

There are many places in the Park that have drop-offs next to the highway. One of them is just 10 or so miles north of the south entrance. I happen to think that view is one the more beautiful spots in the Park. So either you will have to put blinders on when you get near to them or....not see the Park.

We came in the east entrance in 2010 and Sylvan Pass was little fun but i think we were having trouble with the trans. on our truck. 2011 we came in the south entrance and didn't have any problems, will be coming that way again this year out of Jackson. The easiest drive over the Rockies is I-80. "IMHO" The drive from Alpine to Jackson is beautiful along the Snake River. I am sitting here wondering what direction your headed after Yellowstone, Thinking about your comment about heights and drop offs. We love Yellowstone we will be there a full week this year. There are more drop offs on the north half of the Grand Loop but their nothing if you are only in your TV. Y'all have rig similar to ours. We'll be there in June. Have a great time...John- "WE LOVE YELLOWSTONE"
