We have a 42' DP and have no problem getting in and out at Caspar Beach Campground.

the OP asked about state parks, not private parks. Caspar Beach is not a state park. but it is in a great location.

no indication the OP needed hookups either.

well, i'm confused. full hookups and California State Parks don't go together.

i don't know of any NorCal state parks with any hookups, except Lake Folsom, Lake Oroville, Benbow Lake, New Brighton and Seacliff. and there are very few of those sites with hookups, except Seacliff.

so, do you want hookups or do you want a Calif. state park?
you did say "State Parks".

No confusion I would prefer water and elec but a park that has water and a dump station would do just as well. I went on the CA State Park web site and there are just a little over 20 State Parks with Hookups. Hookups sometimes means Full with water, elec and sewer. There may be alot more with just water and elec.

If you plan to go a little further South, Half Moon Bay state beach in Half Moon Bay and Pismo state beach in Oceano both have water and electric hookups. You will have no problem fitting into either one of these parks. If you are going to be in the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area I recommend you avoid Casper rv park and go to Pomo rv park just south of Fort Bragg. They have large, private sites with full hookups. The atmosphere is very close to that of a state park. The park at Casper beach is so tight that you can't extend an awning and in some cases putting you slide out leaves no room to walk between rigs.

You have been given good information about sites. The problem is Calif. State Parks are mostly on a reservation system. I think they vary on how many months a head of the date that the reservations open up. Most of the sites are taken the first day reservations open. If you get lucky you may find a site but it is very tough. Prairie Creek, Jeddadiah, are great but very limited. Good Luck

If you're willing to look at forest service campgrounds (USFS) there are a few more options out there for you and many will be in nice locations w/ space/green. We're currently staying at Lake Shasta in N.Central CA at Antlers forest campground. Hirtz Bay will also accomodate our size here, as will Sims Flats but the local state park (Castle Crags SP) will not - they're closed now anyway. We're 40-foot plus toad.

Before this we stayed at another forest service campground (Sycamore Grove) off the I-5 in Red Bluff, CA. This one had some sites with electric/water too.

State Parks that take larger size in CA are few and far between, unfortunately.

well, there aren't a lot more with just water and electric.

the 20 you saw, are the only State Parks with any hookups in the entire California State Park system. and for almost all of them, only a portion of sites have those hookups.

the ones i posted before, are the only ones in NorCal. and some are W/E only and some are full hookups. the Park's website doesn't specify which, at least that i could find. you have to call the park itself to find out what kind of hookups it has.

for example, Morro Bay SP has W/E only while Carpenteria SB has full hookups. and the website has inaccuracies. it lists Humboldt Redwoods SP as having RV hookups. none of the park's campgrounds have any hookups.

Interesting. Looks like I may have to stay in private parks near State Parks. The problem about having a large rig is you can't just pull in to check them out. Like the Roach Motel, you may get in but not back out! I got into one once and had to back out. That was fun....

I appreciate the comments...
