Have F350 CC SB towing 23ft 6500# TT. Use a WD system as well as two friction type sway controllers. Have a receiver hitch on rear of TT that has been welded to chassis of TT. Plan to pull small 12ft boat/trailer that weighs around 500#. Checked...its legal to double/triple tow with TT in our province. Combined length will be significantly under the max allowed. My question is: should I consider installing friction sway controller on boat trailer too?

I wouldn't. Boat trailers have their axles a lot farther back from the hitch in general, so they would be a lot less prone to sway IMO..

If you read my post you'd see I did the homework. In SK you can double tow with either a FW or TT.

Check your provincial regulations, you may need a fifth wheel to double tow.

Well, it certainly wouldn't hurt anything to use a sway control bar on the boat trailer and they're not all that expensive to buy and put on. It could be a good additional safety precaution, since you're towing with a more sway-prone travel trailer, instead of a fifth wheel.

See my profile, no problems in 4 years going to Colorado to see our son. No sway control, the boat isn't affected by the wind, trucks passing you as the TT has a lot of side surface to get pushed around. You would be ok either way. I'd recomend a camera to watch it though.

Check to see if insurance company will cover a triple tow...also you might be legal in Canada but in 19 states, it's illegal and seperate braking system is required in some states also...make real sure.

Thanks for your concern about the legalities. I'm very well aware that various states do not permit this type of tow, however since I'll be only traveling in my home province of Saskatchewan I'm not overly concerned about other jurisdictions. Licensing and insurance is done through our Provincial government insurance and so long as all vehicles/trailers are insured and plated, which they are and that all legal requirements regarding max towable length and GVWR are met, which they are, the insurance company , in this case SGI, will cover this. Now back to my original question. Friction sway controls on boat trailer???

I would pull your double tow set up on a short trip or several miles down the road and then make a decission if sway control is needed.
We double tow in this state with two TTs howver most doubles behind the bumpers I've been that needed sway control were pulling short PWC or ATV trailers.

Tripple towing is very common in the summer around here, with all the big COE lakes, with a DRW truck pulling a 5er/large boat/2 or 4 bunk PWC trailer bringing up the rear.
