Question about the National Park campgrounds there. I notice they mention unheated showers there. Have any of y'all used them? How cold are they?

Re: NPS Showers.....depends upom the weather. If hot outside, the showers are lukewarm and feel wonderful after a day at the beach. If chilly outside, then it's not much fun to shower!

Got back 2 weeks ago from OBX for first time. Stayed at Camp Hatteras. Nice, clean CG. More expensive than others. You can camp on ocean side or sound side. Stayed on ocean side but sound side was 5 min walk. Watched sunsets on sound side every night then back to beach for walk and campfire. Would definitely go back.

We just got back from there on Sunday. We stayed at Camp Hatteras but rode through Ocean Waves, the KOA, and North Beach Campground(more of a trailer park than a campground) and took pictures and posted them on our
website.. There are links on the homepage to each of them under newest reviews.

We prefer Frisco...not Frisco Woods but the NPS campground called Frisco. Anyway, we like the campground because the sites are tucked away in the dunes and have trees and bushes between them...very nice but their showers are some of the worst we ever used. The water is COLD and the shower itself leaves something to be desired as far as cleanliness. I wouldn't recommend camping there if you need to use their shower facilities.

Thanks for doing that! Camp Hatteras and KOA didn't appear very full in those pics. Surprising.

The KOA was very empty. Maybe it was because they are still doing construction from the hurricane damage last year. The pictures of camp hatteras were taken during fall or winter. It wasn't sold out but it was pretty full.

Daughter lives on the OBX. We always stay at Ocean Waves. It is half the price with good sites and hookups. The only down side would be the lack of activities for kids. But, are activities what you go to the OBX for
