This might be the wrong place to post this but I need a answer soon, getting ready to go on a trip. I have a Dual Head Chuck Tire Gauge, I have had this Gauge a while, went out to check the tires this morning can't get a correct reading sound's like the air is escapeing out the other end I keep getting diffrent reading, I don't mind purching another Gauge but wanted to ask if you think this one has seen its better days. Thanks for all replys. I have never had this problem before. If I need to purchase another Gauge weould you recommend the same Dual chuck or something else. Roy

It may be in need of replacement, but if the olny thing wrong is the air leak from the opposite side, you might try this. Could be a small spec of dirt stuck in the seal/seat, so try rinsing it under tap water, and blowing it out. A drop of vegetable oil on the rubber seal and betal pin, might let it seat properly.

But if it's worn, and won't seal, then time for a new one. Truck stops have a selection, as well as NAPA auto stores. But a good one.

Roy,

Go to a truck parts distributor and get a Milton gauge.

The Milton product is made in the USA and will not fail with time.

My experience with similar gauges made in China is that they fail when used with our higher pressure applications.

I have always had trouble geting a good reading on the outside and front tires on my Ford F53 19.5" wheels. I have at least 6 tire gauges, and none of them fit propperly. On two milton gauges I heated the tube and bent them trying to get a better angle. It is still hard to get a good fit.

To the best of my knowledge there is no truck distrubitor around here, NAPA is closed today, went to O'Rileys and got a cheap one which works as of now getting ready to go on the road will check at truck stops for a better gauge. Thanks to all for the replys. Have a safe Summer. Roy

To add to the convenience I put a quick disconnect on the the inlet for the air hose - at the bottom right by the trigger.

At a stop I can just grab the gauge and check the tires. If I need air I get the 50' hose and quick-connect. I add air, release the trigger, and check the pressure.

I had my gauge checked at a truck tire shop that had a certified accurate master gauge. The Miltin was exactly the same as the certified gauge.

Cost was about $40 plus a small bit to make an adapter for the quick connect.

Alcoa Wheel air gauges. Mine works great, and if they are good enough for Alcoa, they good enough for me. A quality gauge, and its price will not break the pocketbook.

One is Straight-on 30° reverse in Black Polyurethane finish, and the other is Straight-on 180° reverse in chrome finish.

My story: I bought a Milton 976 2 yrs. ago and have taken good care of it (kept it in a clean place by itself--not in a toolbox).Recently I heard of a real good, very accurate digital (Trucker's Choice Digital Pressure Gauge #TMG-860-97). When I first got it, it registered 4 lbs. under the Milton! I went to a local tire store, and they compared it to their master gauge. It was right on! Then I heard of a NAPA Master Pressure Gauge--and it agreed with the digital. Believe me, I keep the NAPA gauge (#90-390) in a sock and away from everything. I've quit using the Milton. Maybe it can be re-calibrated?? Just my 2¢ worth. Jim
