I am ready to pull the trigger on an electric tongue jack. The Barker 3500 seems to be the most popular choice. I have seen a few comments about measuring the diameter of your current jack before buying new one. I need to order a new jack before I have access to my trailer again. Can I assume the Barker 3500 will fit my Salem 26 or do I need to wait until I can measure the diameter to make sure it is 2 1/4 and not 2 inches?

IMO just get it. If hole is too small, a little time with a rat-tail file should fix it. I actually installed a 2 1/4" jack in a 2" hole in a store parking lot years ago. They were kind enough to loan me the file. Bet the entire event took under an hour.

I did the reverse. I bought the Ultra Fab 3502 that said it would fit a 2" or 2 1/4" mount. When I installed it I could tell it was designed for a 2" hole and mine was a 2 1/4" apparently. There was a bit of a gap around the jack after installation. It seems to be fine. As C&G mentioned, it seems like a lot of people just file or grind the hole a bit to get it to fit.

I bought a 2" diameter not knowing mine was 2.25". It fit but there was just too much wobble on the Jack for me. I returned it for the larger size and it is much better.

I had the same issue and asked everyone I could find. I even called the manuafacturer and was not provided accurate information. The ONLY way you will know is to measure it yourself. You will need to just put some blocks under the tongue and remove the three bolts. Pull the old jack out, and measure. This same advice goes for everything about your trailers height, weight, width, etc. Just go get the numbers so you know for a fact they are accurate. Good luck. I have the Barker 3500 VIP witht he 24" rise....WOW! An incredible jack. You will not regret it. Barker also has excellent customer service. I bought mine on ebay (Manelli Trailers) good price. I sent Barker an email with the UPC code and suggested they include jack covers to improve sales....they sent me one for free. No other questions asked.
