Friend is looking at an 09 Monaco Camelot. Anybody have experience with one or know if they would be a good buy? Thanks in advance.

Is it a tag axle coach? What year is the engine? Monaco bought up a bunch of Cummins engines without all the emission stuff so the engine could be a 07. By 09 the Camelot is about the same as a 04 Dynasty as the newer Dynasty's have replaced the Exe. For half the money he could find a 04 Dynasty which I know is a good MH. Not sure if a 09 has the alum upper wall construction instead of steel. In 06 the Camelot had windshield breaking problems because the front cap was not supported well enough. Other than that I have not heard of any major problems with the Camelots.

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

In 2009 the Camelot is still the aluminum superstructure construction. It is still the Dynasty up that has the steel semi-monocoque construction/chassis. Now the Dynasty took the place of the Executive as it goes from the Signature directly to the Dynasty in the heirarchy.

I agree with Ivylog, have him look for a few year older 2003-2005 Dynasty for that money and get the steel semi-monocoque chassis as well as a Cummins with much less EPA/emissions crap.

Mike.

09 and early 10 Monaco coaches are hit and miss, as far as quality. That is the time frame Monaco was headed down and some of their coaches are true lemons, while others are shining stars. As much as I like Monaco coaches, I would pass on any 09 and on a 10 model, unless it had the blue Navistar sticker by the door. The others have it right, look for an older Dynasty and get twice the coach for your buck.
