I have an 06 Alfa See Ya. Yesterday morning, the frig was say "Lo DC." House batteries were in the red, but inverter batteries seemed ok. I replace the 6 batteries 9/03/09. A little later frig shut down, 12 volt lights are very dim. Shore power powers the 110 circuits. Now, my engine batteries are dead. They have never been replaced. So, I am dead in the water and it is the weekend. Can I charge the house batteries seperately and how do you charge the engine batteries. I can get in a shop Monday, but I have to get the slides in and get it there.

House batterys and Inverter batterys are the same batterys?? It seems to me your converter is not working.Just a wild guess on my part regarding the chassis batterys but perhaps try a thing called a battery charger i hear they will work sometimes.?

Our converter hums all the time and loudly when the batteries are well discharged. Do you have 12o volts at the outlet where your converter pulls in?

You do not have 120v to it or the 12 volt charging part of it is fried or something is stopping 12v get to the batteries to recharge them perhaps.

Actually, on the Alfa, you have three banks of batteries: the chassis (2) batteries, the house (2) batteries are seperate from the inverter (4) batteries. I have a charger and it is hooked up to the house batteries. But, I still have a problem when I disconnect it. However, I at least can get power to everything now.

Thanks

When I disconnect the battery charger, we start heading back to square one. I have an appointment with Johnny Walker RV here in Vegas tomorrow morning. I am sure it has something to do with the charging system ... will let you know. I still need to know where the fuses are.

You've made a good decision taking it to Johnny Walkers, they have excellent service and am sure they can ferret out and correct your electrical problem.

Good luck

Johnny Walkers is one of the few places I let work on my MH. They have always treated me right.

Here is the answer: Johnny Walker RV in Vegas found that there were some broken battery cables and corroded cable ends and connections. Replaced them and back in business. Side note: Got back to the LV RV Resort and had no power to the frig - back to Johnny Walkers. It had a recall that we had missed ... fixed and back at campground.
